WALEK DZEDZEJ PUNK BAND is considered to be the first punk band in Poland. Members of the band are: Walek Dzdzej (vocalist and guitarist), Maciej Góralski (percussionist) and Jacek Kufirski (bass). At that time Walek was already a legend, folk poet performing with the guitar in underground passages, sometimes in cafes. Every time the band was giving a concert, it was becoming a musical sensation. Their performance in Warsaw club “Hybrydy” in 1978 is considered to be the first polish punk concert. Through purposely out-of-tune amplifier they screamed lyrics: “I am not small/I am not smart/I am not stupid/I am not a member of ZMS/I am not a member of KOR/I am not a member of the party/I am fucking nothing”. Those words are all that’s left, with no sound recorded. Our musical version for those lyrics came up spontaneously in the studio, and it’s the outcome of our guests’, our producer’s and our own invention – The Uliczny Opryszek Band. We dedicate this song to the memory of Waldek, died 2006 in New York.

Za pierwszy punkowy zespół w Polsce uważa się WALEK DZEDZEJ PUNK BAND. W jego skład wchodzili: Walek Dzedzej (wokalista i gitarzysta), Maciej Góralski (perkusista) oraz Jacek Kufirski (basista). Walek był już wówczas legendarną postacią, poetą folkowym występującym z gitarą w przejściach podziemnych, czasami w kawiarniach. Każdorazowy występ kapeli, której był twórcą, stawał się muzycznym ewenementem. Ich występ w klubie „Hybrydy” wiosną 1978 roku określany jest jako pierwszy polski koncert punkowy w Polsce. Przy celowo przesterowanych wzmacniaczach wykrzykiwano teksty typu: Nie jestem mały / nie jestem mądry / nie jestem głupi / nie jestem w ZMS-ie / nie jestem w KOR-ze / nie jestem w partii / nie jestem kurwa niczym. Pozostały te słowa, jednak niestety nie zarejestrowano dźwięku. Nasza wersja muzyczna do wyżej wymienionego tekstu zrodziła się spontanicznie w studiu, jest wypadkową pomysłu Ulicznego Opryszka, gości nam towarzyszących i realizatora nagrań. Utwór dedykujemy pamięci Walka zmarłego w 2006 roku w Nowym Jorku.
