SVABODA was formed in 1985 in Międzyrzecze (Lubusz voivodship). The band performed earlier as WISIELCY (HANGMEN). In 1985-88 they played many local gigs, among others in Przytoczna with Gedeon Jerubbaal at “Rock na bagnie” festival and at overview in Choszczno. They left a demo tape what was live recorded in community centre in Międzyrzecze where they had their practice. The band has disbanded in the end of 80s. The singer and songwriter BARON is no longer with us, BAZYL – the bassist and singer has run music club “U BAZYLA” since many years in Poznan where lots of bands from Poland and all over the world performed.
Svaboda’s text is an ironic conceptualization of “being real man”. History shows that masculinity model confirmed in culture is based on violence and power, and it has negative effects.

SVABODA powstała w 1985 roku w Międzyrzeczu (woj. lubuskie). Działali już w 1982 roku jako zespół WISIELCY. W latach 1985-88 zagrali wiele lokalnych koncertów, m.in. w Przytocznej z zespołem Gedeonen Jerubbaal na festiwalu „Rock nad Bagnem” oraz na przeglądzie w Choszcznie. Pozostawili po sobie kasetę demo, którą zarejestrowali na żywo w międzyrzeckim domu kultury, gdzie m.in mieli próby. Zespół zakończył działalność pod koniec lat 80-ych. Wokalisty i tekściarza BARONA nie ma już wśród nas, BAZYL – basista, wokalista od wielu lat posiada w Poznaniu klub muzyczny „U Bazyla”, w którym wystąpiło tysiące artystów z Polski i całego świata.
Tekst Svabody to ironiczne ujęcie „bycia prawdziwym mężczyzną”. Jak pokazuje historia, zakorzeniony w kulturze wzór męskości oparty na sile, władzy niesie za sobą negatywne skutki.
